Life Saving the Institution
Becoming a lifesaver is a step that will change your life forever and the Bribie Island club has much to offer
Lifesaving is all about-
- enjoying and making the beach a safe place
- learning new skills and learning how to help those in need
- becoming physically fit and healthy
- having involvement in and with the community
- developing leadership and teamwork skills
- establishing life long friendships
- have a sense of responsibility and purpose
- learning a new sport and possibly competing
Lifesaving at Bribie has a place for everyone from 7 years- 70 years. If you are no longer able to perform active surf duties there are still avenues where you can help, just ask.
The basic skills learnt in becoming a lifesaver are able to be utilised in all areas of life. The minimum award needed to become a lifesaver is your bronze medallion. These days this is a nationally recognised certificate II in public safety (aquatic rescue). Once you've gained this award you have become part of one of Australias proudest traditions. You can proudly wear the red and yellow colours and volunteer with fellow lifesavers in an effort to keep our beach safe.
The Bribie Island Surf Lifesaving Club is family orientated. It is a place where water safety, sport, recreation and socialising come together. We are a vital organisation to the local community and are well respected and appreciated. So come on, change your life forever, become a Bribie Lifesaver today.
