Surf Lifesaving has become one of the most successful development and sporting programs in Australia. Bribie Island Surf Club encourages young people to learn skills, which may some day save someone’s life and promotes active involvement of parents to create a learning environment from which both can benefit. We pride ourselves on being a club which strives to develop leadership, teamwork and promoting lifesaving skills which will ultimately improve the safety of our beaches. Our youth make up nearly half of our active patrolling membership and are a driving force within the Bribie Surf club.

Bribie Island Surf Club have developed an innovative youth development program aimed at encouraging young members aged between 14 to 17, to develop their surf lifesaving skills, grow into proficient surf lifesavers and experience the wide range of opportunities that has to offer by promoting a healthy and active lifestyle within a safe learning environment
Our youth development program plays a vital role in nurturing not only the physical abilities, but also the social and emotional attributes of our young lifesavers. We aspire that our young people have positive experiences regardless of developmental status and keep the focus on fun and learning.
It is important to realise that young people have differing learning abilities and these needs are catered for throughout all our Junior groups.

Our rewards program is aimed at rewarding participation across all areas which currently align with Bribie Island Surf Club priorities, namely Patrols and lifesaving, Awards and training, Fundraising and contributions on committees and the running of the club.
The youth team managed to raise funds to cover the costs involved in our reward program and help purchase more training equipment for our club members.

Bribie Island boasts a highly experienced training team who continually devote many hours to training and up skilling our young members across the many awards and courses offered in surf lifesaving. Because our members have access to excellent trainers we are able to offer most courses in house at the club and offer our bunk rooms to the kids in a camp situation to sweeten the experiences.
Some of the courses available to young members of Bribie Surf Club:
Bronze medallion
IRB crew
First Aid
Advance Resuscitation
Defibrillation
IRD Driver
Ongoing training is a corner stone of our club and we offer many opportunities to obtain awards

Participation in surf sports has been a very proud tradition at the club, with 2011 season to again show case our members abilities to shine. Check out surf sports for more info.

We also provide many opportunities for our young members to engage in social activities and team building like our day at wet and wild, State of Origin 24hr Team Challenge, SRC-Bronze camp. Season 2011 promises some new social activities including a camp to another club in a neighbouring branch further developing close ties with our sister club.
