How Do We Join Nippers ?
All New and Renewing Memberships are now due and are to be completed via visiting the Surf Club Office, Ph 3408 1188. Monday and Wednesday’s
Nipper sign on days between hours of 10am – 2pm on Saturday 24th August and Sunday 25th August, 2019
New Members will need to come to the office, as we need to sight birth certificates and original documents for your Blue Card.
Nippers doesn’t teach kids how to swim. In fact kids wanting to do Nippers must first pass some preliminary evaluations to ensure they have the basic skills needed to progress with Nippers.
There are different evaluations for each Age Group, which nippers need to do as a pre-requisite to commencing activity in the ocean. The 3-step evaluation process will look at basic swimming and fitness skills for pool swimming, ocean swimming and competition.
Click here to see evaluation distances for each age group. If you didn’t make it to Sign On Day please have the Pool Swim Proficiency Form signed by an accredited swim coach or assessor.
****Please note: All nippers are required to complete a pool swim before they can participate in any nipper activities; there are no exceptions to this requirement. ****
Beach and competition evaluations will be carried out on the first day your child attends nippers.
****All Nippers from U8 will have to complete a beach competency test before being allowed to participate in the Nipper Programme.****

What Is Nippers ?
Surf Life Saving Junior Activities (better known as Nippers) is an amazing activity for developing a child’s confidence, knowledge and skills in the beach environment. It’s a junior program that introduces children aged 5 to 13 to surf lifesaving.
Not only will your child have fun and meet new friends, they will become part of an iconic organisation that has served the Australian community for over 100 years.
The youth of today are the future of Surf Life Saving, and the Nippers pathway teaches lessons and skills allowing them to continue in lifesaving and surf sports, as they grow older.
It’s not hard work. We like to call it serious fun! Nippers is a great way for children to make friends, be active and enjoy the beach in a safe environment.
For Nippers, the beach is the classroom. They gain confidence by passing the ‘tests’ of swimming, body boarding, beach sprints, dolphin-diving, spotting a rip, board paddling, having fun with new friends and discovering things about themselves.
The skills and friendships gained will stick to the soul like sand from the beach and be carried for life. Practicing these skills helps develop competence and confidence in the surf environment.
We look forward to you joining our Surf family here at Bribie Island!
