Our Bribie Island Surf Life Saving Club family was deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Charlize Zmuda in February 2025, a valued club member taken far too soon.

Charlize is remembered for her bright spirit, kindness, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. She truly embodied the spirit of surf lifesaving — friendship, courage, and community.

She will always remain a part of our club’s story and be remembered with love.

In Charlize's memory, a number of awards have been established for up-and-coming Surf Lifesavers - Bribie Island SLSC - Charlize Zmuda Award - Junior Lifesaver of the Season and at the Sunshine Coast Branch - Charlize Zmuda Award for the Under 18 Life Saver of the Year. Additionally, there are Char's travelling turtles, set up by her mum Renee. These beautiful little turtles, are out in the world carrying Charlize's spirit, helping her see the world - just as she dreamed.
