MEMBER PROTECTION

Keeping Our Youngest
Lifesavers Safe
At Bribie Island Surf Life Saving Club, the safety and wellbeing of children and young people is our highest priority. We follow Surf Life Saving Queensland’s (SLSQ) Child Safety Commitment Statement, which sets a clear, zero-tolerance approach to harm, misconduct, and abuse.
We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every child feels respected, valued, and empowered.
Our Child Safety Commitment
-
Zero tolerance for misconduct or abuse.
-
All members working with children must hold a current Blue Card.
-
Codes of Conduct are in place for members, coaches, officials, and parents.
-
Safe environments—both physical and online—are actively maintained.
-
Education and training help all members understand and meet their child safety responsibilities.
You can read the full SLSQ Child Safety Commitment Statement.
Making a Complaint or
Raising a Concern
We encourage anyone—member, parent, or child—to speak up if they see, hear, or experience behaviour that is unsafe or inappropriate.
You can:
-
Speak to our Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) in person or via email.
-
Lodge a complaint through the SLSA Complaints Portal.
-
Contact Queensland Police if a child is at immediate risk.
All members should be able to feel safe and respected. Please make sure you talk to someone if you have any concerns.
